The Aberdeenshire Council had been considering for some years a replacement of the swimming pool, either on a new location or complete overhaul but owing to budgetary constraints each year the project was shelved.

In 2023 the council found our offer of an external package gas fired boiler house a worthwhile engineering project to consider as a temporary plant for swimming pool. Three of four boilers had failed and the last boiler was being limped along, failure would have meant closure of the swimming pool.

BSH looked at the location and arrived at several solution alternatives for the council to consider.

Implementation
It was flet that our solution which would allow the entire plant to be used immediately, thereby allowing all defective boiler to be removed but further, that the package room could be removed and relocated to the new pool should expenditure be found to build a new pool, this solution gave the broadest future proofed options.

Sime: sistemi di riscaldamento Sime Ltd boilers where chosen to meet the 1.4Mw of heating needed for a new leisure centre and although the existing swimming pool didn’t require this magnitude of power, a modular concept was developed. Trend BMS systems by ATC Ltd allowed cycling of the four modular room sealed boilers, room sealed for added safety, the Sime ALU boiler is one of the few commercial range boilers that can provide this. Wilo pumps were chosen as BSH preference for the project.

Results

The package room met all the latest ERP efficiency standards, provided a 1hrs fire rating and 25yrs cladding warranty.

Following competitive tender BSH were appointed to fulfil the roll.
